Now we have the option to have single-precision mat-file output. It remains to say whether to access to it through ""-single"" simflag or through some specific GUI control (see comment 7 of #4569)

I vote for having a specific GUI control, even though it is not so important now.

Just in case, I propose to make single precision the default. In fact, although double-precision is fundamental for internal computations, it is very, very rarely necessary in the final output.
