We also discovered that it does a lot more that the documentation says, as documented in the comments to that ticket. It was eventually reinstated with [https://github.com/OpenModelica/OpenModelica/pull/341 PR #341], causing some [https://libraries.openmodelica.org/branches/history/newInst/2019-07-19%2011:29:24..2019-07-19%2015:35:39.html regressions].
