There is no support for unit expressions in OpenModelica.

What exactly does the backend need to do with unit expressions?

As far as I know, there is no unit check in OpenModelica. There are at least two things missing:

  1. equation with incompatible units should get reported with a warning
  2. implicit present units should be assigned to variables automatically

This ticket is probably assigned to the wrong component.

Now, there is a module that does unit checking in the back end (r22530). It has probably to be moved to the front end (see #2856).
