OMC Virtualbox Doesn't Boot

Reported by: Adam Dershowitz Owned by: Martin Sjölund
Priority: blocker Milestone: 1.14.0
Component: Build Environment Version:
Keywords: Cc:

Description

I downloaded the 64 bit release virtualbox image:
https://build.openmodelica.org/omc/builds/virtual_machines/release64/openmodelica-1.13.0/
I then imported it into Virtualbox, and when I try to run it, it starts the boot process, but never brings up the graphics environment. It gets as far as:
usbhib: USB HID core driver
random: nonblocking pool is initialized.

Then it just hangs. I also tried the 32 bit version with the same results. I am trying to run it on VirtualBox 6.0, but I also tried on on Virtualbox 5.2, and had the same results.
Is there something wrong with this build? Is there a working one available? I have used some older ones a year or two ago that booted fine.

I also tried the 64 bit nightly with the same results.
I've tried holding shift, to get the Grub menu, and I see loading grub, but then it continue to boot, and goes through the normal boot up until I get to the lines above, and it then freezes.

I guess we should change the generation of Virtual Machines from vagrant since they seem to break things constantly. I assume they disabled the consoles and did serial port only or something...

I have a new image up at: https://build.openmodelica.org/omc/builds/virtual_machines/nightly/
Otherwise, it's quite easy to just use a normal Ubuntu VM and installing OpenModelica in that. Note: only 64-bit builds from now on and it might take some time before the nightly build, release, stable updates because the Linux packages need to be updated.
