    44My experience is that exoteric unicode characters are not well supported with all the font styles. That's a good reason to choose the default, which should be the best supported.

    6 There must be some trivial reason for which with the default style dit not show the minus sign in your case. After all it is just an ASCII character, and should not give raise to issues.
