GUI based FMU import does not extract the .fmu on its own

Description
I tried importing the bouncing ball fmu in OMEdit 1.8.1 and it failed. The reason I found is that it was not able to extract the .fmu file in the output directory (whether explicitly specified or not). It works fine if I manually extract the .fmu in some directory and specify the same directory as the output directory.
I am using Windows 7 Home Premium and running OMEdit as an administrator.

AFAIK OMEdit 1.8.1 contains the old FMU import functionality. I suggest downloading a new nightly build.
