Description
I installed the saucy nightly builds from the repository and OMEdit would not start up because libgc.so.1 could not be found.
Installing libgc1c2 fixes this.

That's the wrong fix. We link against a local version of libgc that is not quite compatible with the regular libgc... Probably an rpath is missing.
