Description
OMEdit's plot window currently shows a tool tip with the coordinates besides the mouse pointer. It is hard to place the mouse exactly on the curve of a result, in order to see the actual value.
The problem can be solved by adding a vertical ruler (vertical line) to the plot window. On mouse click this ruler is drawn at the x-position of the mouse. The Variables Browser should then update all values to the selected time point.
Moreover, the Variables Browser should have a slider, enabling the selection of time for variable values. The slider should be "wired" with the ruler. The slider of the Variables Browser should also be wired with the slider offered by the animation window -- or possibly replace it.

All I notice now is that the tooltip that shows xy values besides the mouse pointer stops updating as long as the mouse is moving. When the mouse stops, then the tooltip replays the movement!??

The reported strange behaviour appears related to Debian8 (Qt4?). Under Ubuntu 16.04 I get the red rectangle. Nice!
This is an alternative to the proposed ruler.
I had to go back from strange compile error -- BaseEditor not known? by three commits to
Last successful compile though.

Is there another ticket that addresses a slider for the variables browser?
Having the feature of displaying values for all variables in the variables browser, I still think that a vertical ruler in the plot window at the time of displayed values would be useful.

Selection of time for variable values will be very usefull.
We have a nice time selection tool right above variables browser - but it does nothing.
Then I tried to look at starting values at t=0 for some plots it was very hard and sometimes not possible: then you move mouse right from vertical axis - no tooltip; in my case (I use ElastoGap and set wrong initial values that make contact at start) - position plot rapidly got up and down - very hard to point to start value - even then I zoomed in.
Have you tested after #2166 & #3879 have been fixed? Now you see small red rectangle on the exact data point and the values in the tooltip when mouse is over the curve.
We need the slider in the Variables Browser for dynamic select so we don't need a new ticket for it.
