#5931 new defect

Use the same place for client settings and libraries in Windows

Reported by: Adrian Pop Owned by: somebody
Priority: high Milestone: Future
Component: Interactive Environment Version:
Keywords: Cc: Adeel Asghar

Description

Currently

  • the package manager uses: %APPDATA%/.openmodelica/library
  • OMEdit uses %APPDATA%/openmodelica/

I think OMEdit should also use %APPDATA%/.openmodelica/ for the settings and also all the clients should use the same place.

Does the dot format has some special meaning?

I suggest use %APPDATA%/openmodelica/ as OMEdit and OMNotebook are using it. Changing this means a large number of OMEdit users will loss their settings or will have to copy or create new.

The dot is common use in Linux. Should this be OS-specific?

I guess its up to us to choose whatever we want. The OS doesn't enforce anything. OMEdit uses the same for Windows, Linux and MAC OSX and it works on all platforms.

Where do we save the settings on Linux? ~/openmodelica?

Yes!
