install 2 versions OM in parallel?

Description

Why is it not possible to install 2 versions of OM in parallel?
See enclosed screen shot:
OpenModelica is already installed on your machine.
Click 'ok' to uninstall and install again.
Click 'Cancel' to quit the setup.
Windows 10 pro
Installed OM 1.13.2
Would like to test OM 1.16.1 before choosing it for teaching.

This is the same as #5809.
ticket:5809#comment:10 contains a brilliant workaround: I use it all the time.

@adrpo, you mentioned you need to do something for MODELICAPATH in order to get proper support of MSL 3.2.3 and 4.0.0 in version 1.17.0.

Could this possibly also solve this issue and allow to install multiple versions of OpenModelica? I always keep multiple versions of Dymola, because it is sometimes useful to me, and being able to keep a stable release in parallel to the nightly would be an obvious bonus.

ok I wasn't aware of the "dirty hack" to rename the old installation, then install the new one (without deinstalling the old one), and in the end reanme back the old installation.
I can live with that hack (provided I remember it when I install the next version).

.. and creating bat files makes things easier.
Before a new installation you've first to delete the regedit keyword OpenModelica.UninstallString
