#3343 closed enhancement (wontfix)

A small improvement in OMEdit zooming

Reported by: anonymous Owned by: Adeel Asghar
Priority: low Milestone: never
Component: OMEdit Version: trunk

Description

When I want to zoom maybe I want to include partly the unzoomed plot, up to the very beginning.
For instance If I time goes from 0 to 2 I may want to zoom from 0 to 1.

To be sure to include the whole left part of the plot It might be helpful if the zooming rectangle can be started from a point left of zero.

Similarly, if I want to include all the upper part of the plot It might be helpful if In can start the zooming rectangle above the actual plot area.

Maybe this can be added?

Isn't this functionality already available? How is this different from existing stuff?

In what follows I consider the tarting time being zero. The same applies , just changing 0 with t_start, also when it is a different value.

Presently, in OMEdit, if I want to zoom to see the first part of a plot, I must start dragging exactly on the pixel that corresponds to t=0. Otherwise, the zoomed window will start somewhere later.
Indeed left of zero the mouse pointer is an arrow (not a cross), indicating that it is impossible to start dragging.

But picking exactly a specific pixel is tricky!

What I meant in my suggestion is that one could be allowed to start dragging left of zero, this way intending to zoom exactly from t=0 onwards.

The same could apply for the vertical range.

True but you can select Pan in the Plot toolbar and then drag the canvas to right then switch back to zoom and start the zoom rectangle from where ever you want.

The plot has to start from 0 or lets say from t_start and since zooming is part of the canvas it is not possible to start it from left of t_start.

ok.
Using pan before zooming is sufficient.
Especially since, I understand, it is not immediate making the change I suggested..
For ne you can close this ticket.
