Proposed schedule for the 1.17.0 release

  • Feature freeze: mid-November 2020
  • Beta release around New Year's eve 2021
  • Final release Jan 2021 in time for the OpenModelica Workshop

There was some delay due to critical issues that had to be resolved, in particular #6307, #6348, #6379. The maintenance/1.17 branch was branched off on 21 Jan 2021, a beta release will be made as soon as these three issues are resolved.

Final check list for 1.17.0:

  • #6307 (Icons scrambled up because of inconsistent nfAPI settings) was fixed and ported on maintenance/1.17 one week ago
  • #6348 (size_t issue) was fixed on master with ​PR 7207 and tested successfully on the nightly build. Ported to maintenance/1.17 in ​PR 7219
  • #6379 (handling MSL in 1.17.x) is fixed in maintenance/1.17 by ​PR 7216.
  • #6394 (last issue with -nfAPI in OMEdit] was tentatively managed in maintenance/1.7 by ​PR 7216, but that needs updating from ​PR 7218
  • #6391 (dynamic linking in Windows) was pushed on master in ​PR 7183, and successfully tested there, then ported to maintenance/1.17 in ​PR 7219

Then we can go with the 1.17.0-beta.2 release, and test again all these issues for good measure.
